5 Tips to Brighten Your Eyes For That “No Makeup” Look

Don’t you just hate when you wanna have a “no makeup & go” day but your tired looking eyes have you looking & feeling like the walking dead? Ugh! I hate those days and sometimes it doesn’t even matter how much sleep I get or don’t get, my eyes, Erykah and Badu, just wanna be bag ladies. Usually, I go straight to my full face makeup routine thinking, “oh well, I guess it’s not one of those “no makeup & go days”. Well, recently I started doing some little tricks that, although require some makeup, they don’t require much, and are very quick and very easy. With these tips you can still have a “mostly no makeup & go” day and be ready to go in less than 5 minutes luggage-free.

  1. Use a nude or barely pink pencil to line your eyes directly along your lower lash line and into the inner corner of your eye. Highlighting your lash line will make your eyes appear brighter and more awake, while looking like you have no makeup on.
  2. Use a dab of a lightweight, crease resistant, and hydrating concealer that has a matte finish directly under your eye. Make sure you blend down to your cheek bone so that it looks like you don’t have any on. Remember, you want to still have that “no makeup” look going.  Try one of these: Motives Long-Wear Liquid Concealer, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, or tarte Cosmetics Shape Tape Concealer.
  3. Try a blue mascara. Ever wonder why cosmetics lines carry black, brown, and BLUE mascara, instead of let’s say, orange? Well, blue makes the white of your eyes appear whiter, which in turn makes your eyes look brighter and more awake.
  4. Fill-in your brows with a brow powder or pencil. A nicely filled-in brow not only shapes your face, but it also takes attention away from your eyes. When your brows look nice, they enhance your over all look. The key here is to make sure you don’t go too dramatic with your brow fill. Remember, you’re going for the “no makeup” look. Overly filled-in brows just look crazy on a naked face.
  5. Skip the eyes and add a nude or neutral lipstick. A nude lip on a “no makeup” look draws attention away from the eyes. Wait… don’t skip the eyes, add a little mascara just for the hell of it. Try Motives All Day Liquid Lipstick in “Discrete” or “Sultry”.

Okay, so your “no makeup” look isn’t exactly a no makeup look, but at least you don’t look like a zombie.
